Spray tans take 24 hours to fully develop, meaning it’s best to wait until development has finished in order to use body wash. With that being said, here are a few recommendations:
- Vacation: The day before you leave.
- Weddings: ~2-3 days before your big day.
- Photos: ~2-3 days before.
- Events: 1-2 days before your event.
Typically 15-20 minutes. If it is your first time, plan for an extra 10 for consultation and questions.
- Contouring adds about 15 minutes depending on the amount.
- Prep services also add additional time, you can view this when scheduling your appointment.
Nope! Your skin won’t be able to hold on to the tan.
If you have concerns about freshening up or have a last minute appointment, we suggest adding prep treatment to aid your skin with our very own professional, spray tan safe products that we specifically had made for spray tans.

A contour tan is a spray tan application technique that uses shading and highlighting to enhance the natural contours of your body. This technique can create the appearance of more defined muscles, a slimmer waist, and an overall sculpted look. Our skilled technicians can customize the contour tan to accentuate your best features and create a flattering silhouette.
On average, a spray tan lasts 7-10 days. Based on your skin type, level of fitness, daily activity, and how well you maintain your spray, the longevity of your tan can vary. Just like a suntan, a spray tan fades gradually as your skin cells shed. Don’t want the party to end? Consider a membership or package to maintain your glow AND save money.

Yes! The active ingredient, DHA, is FDA-approved for sunless tanning. Our DHA is naturally-derived from sugar beets.
A brassy or orange spray tan is the result of 2 things: poor quality product and wrong amount of DHA. Rest assured, we only use certified ECO CERT DHA in all our spray tans.
Spray tans do not contain sunscreens and doesn’t protect against sunburn. UV exposure can lead to skin cancer and premature aging, even if you don’t burn. It’s crucial you use spray tan safe sunscreen.
Aftercare
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. It’s highly recommended to tan with your natural skin as a base for an even tan.
- Shave the day before or at least 8 hours before your spray tan appointment. This allows time for any irritation or redness from shaving to calm down so it doesn’t interfere with the tan application.
- Exfoliate first to remove dead skin cells, then shave to get a nice smooth surface for the tan to adhere to. Be gentle though, too much exfoliation right before a spray tan can cause irritation.
- Use a clean, sharp razor and shave in the direction of hair growth to minimize irritation. Go slowly and don’t press too hard.
- Moisturize after shaving to soothe skin and help keep it smooth. Avoid lotions with mineral oil or petroleum jelly as that can create a barrier for the tan.
- Make sure freshly shaved areas like knees, elbows and ankles are given extra attention and sprayed from multiple angles during your tan session. These areas absorb more product and can appear darker or uneven if not blended well.
The smoother your skin, the better the tan application will go. Just leave enough recovery time after shaving to let any redness subside. Getting a close shave right before a spray tan session helps minimize tan unevenness from hair growth.
*Keep in mind shaving after your tan may cause premature fading. Ask us in studio for suggestions.

Wait until your first shower to wash your face. Products intended to remove acne, even texture, or brighten the skin can cause premature or accelerate fading.
It’s normal for your hands and face to fade faster, as you wash both multiple times a day. Consider picking up a bottle of tanning drops at your appointment to replenish color.
